Emerging Renewables Program - ERP

The Emerging Renewables Program (ERP) is the successor of the Emerging Renewables Buydown Program which first started in March 1998. Originally, a rebate and incentive program for several kinds of renewable energy technologies, the program formally changed on January 1, 2007. While all incentives for solar were managed by the California Public Utility Commission (California Solar Initiative) and the California Energy Commission (New Solar Homes Partnership) from that point on, the Emerging Renewables Program continued to offer cash incentives for grid-connected small wind energy and fuel cell systems. The ERP is supervised by the California Energy Commission. The relatively small system size reflects that the ERP was created with residential customers in mind.
